I had a boyhood dream.

Flashback, Grade 10, 2003...
I remember having these fascinations with old 'hippy vans' back when I was in high school. I'd be sitting in art class, looking out the window, there would always be a twinkie-shaped vehicle driving by at a certain time of the day. I would marvel as I watched it go by... One of the teacher's in high school had one! I recently had been hired at the local Sobeys supermarket, making some dough finally. Thought about buying one, but where? The best I could do was mold a Volkswagen bus out of clay, and thinking to myself, one day, one day I can feel that feeling...

Flash forward, November 2009... This month was a culmination of several key events that would all end up in one night at the Splice. I booked the Splice to host the benefit show featuring Tears of Rage documentary Pilot and my local buddies Tarantuela. So we ended filming a music video and I had to work my ass off to collect enough cash to buy my very first, real life, VW van!

Long story short, the plan went off without a hitch! I mean it! The video is posted, made enough cash to take our next film trip to New York City and the best part, I picked up the boys in the band as well as their gear and drove it down to the Splice, to kick off the benefit show.

WHAT A RUSH!

This blog is dedicated to following your dreams and doing far out things that thinking rationally were so out in left field, that you thought could never be done... AND actually, finally, DOING THEM! Oh and we'll also track the restoration of the van!

Meet, The 'Love Machine' A.K.A. The Flying Dutches of 72' (Nov 09)

This is what the old beast had looked like when we first got it, with all ten buckets of bondo and custom ski bumpers still intact. I'd like to give a shout out to Shawn, the guy we picked this up off. Another good note, he has such a remarkable resemblance to 'The Dude' off The Big Lebowski!
